It is fitting that light play a part in the observance or celebration of the Winter solstice. During our Winter Solstice observances we will have a time of meditation and spiritual reflection. To help to reinforce this practice we call upon each of us to create their own little light to focus upon during their meditation time.
This Winter Solstice focus, centerpiece, votive, or decoration does not have to be elaborate. I would ENCOURAGE you, however, to take a little time between now and the Solstice to go into nature and seek for natural decorations to include in your creation. It might be pine cones, evergreens, mistletoe, or other seasonally appropriate plant, nut, or other item.
I would also ENCOURAGE you to include light in your meditative focal arrangement. It might be a candle, a tea light, an LED candle, a lantern or whatever says "light" to you.
This creation is just for you, though, perhaps it might be observed by others during our Zoom meeting. The purpose is for you, You, and YOU. Create something that you, You and YOU find draws you closer to light, perhaps a light that you might watch as you meditate, or can perceive through your closed eyelids.
The point is, have fun in finding, making and using your own personal Winter Solstice decoration for aesthetics AND for meditative focus.
Take a little time before the Winter Solstice and "prepare to see the light."
