WORD PLAY: Divinity

Lets look at the word Divinity.

Etymology tells us that Divinity refers to a divine being, God and is derived ultimately from the ancient word root *dyeu meaning “to shine” and its derivatives meaning “sky, heaven, god.”

But have you ever noticed how the word Divinity and the words Divine Unity look like they have been squished together?

Google’s AI notes that Divine Unity refers to the concept of God’s essential oneness, indivisibility and self-sufficiency.  This concept is a core principle in many religions including Islam, Judaism, and Christianity signifying universal interconnectedness, suggesting that everything shares a single divine source.  The Divine’s attributes (goodness, power etc.) are identical with the Divine being.  Divinity, Divine Unity, is not composed of separate parts, but Divinity, Divine Unity, is an essential part of ALL THINGS, ALL LIFE, EVERY-THING!

For example, can you name ANY thing that is not composed of atoms, electrons, photons, energy?  Hint, you can’t.  The absence of energy is an impossible ideal defined as absolute zero – the void of absolute zero, where particles stop moving, but even then, zero-point energy persists, making a complete absence impossible.

In essence, Divine Unity, Divinity, is a multifaceted concept affirming the absolute singularity of all.  Isn’t it interesting that the Sky, the Heaven, and God isn’t divided but one expansive ALL? Perhaps humanity should turn from focusing on the details of separateness and instead perceive the expansive ALL.
